These simple and bold, flat-faced Bamiyan turquoise stud earrings, sterling silver, from ISHKAR are the perfect everyday earring. The Bamiyan turquoise stud earrings, sterling silver, are handcrafted in 925 Sterling Silver with Bamiyan turquoise stones.

Size: The stud diameter is about 1cm in total, including the silver surround.

Known to locals as Bamiyan Turquoise, this mineral (scientific name: Chrysocolla) is mined close to the famous Buddhas of Bamiyan, which were destroyed by the Taliban in 2001. Bamiyan sits in a stunning lush green valley surrounded by snow capped peaks.

Sustainability Excellence

This piece is produced by master artisans in Afghanistan. Since the Taliban took over in August 2021, we have removed all identifying references of ISHKAR's partners for security reasons. Some of their partners were able to leave Afghanistan. For those who remain, their craft is critical to sustain their livelihoods at a time when the country is in financial collapse and in the grip of a humanitarian disaster, making every purchase of an Afghan-made piece more important now than ever before.

On top of the amount ISHKAR pay the artisans, a further 10% of the value of this product goes towards the Turquoise Mountain Foundation. Turquoise Mountain supports Afghan artisans by providing them with three years of technical training, as well as a full range of business support following graduation. You can read more about the Foundation in our profile piece about Ishkar in our journal.
