Based on the chinoiserie vibe of this appliqué, we think that it could be 1920's. For its age this is in excellent condition, especially considering that it's been hand-beaded on to a fine, black felt fabric. There are a mixture of colours and bead types used to describe the different features of this dragon, creating an utterly charming and delicate effect. There are some small areas where the beads are now missing, but overall it's still utterly beautiful.
The colours do look somewhat faded and softened. If the beads are metal this may be the result of some tarnishing.
