The design of these ISHKAR Four Forests stud earrings, Bamiyan turquoise and silver, was inspired by the view of Afghanistan’s verdant fields whilst flying over the countryside. The Four Forests stud earrings, Bamiyan turquoise and silver, are a unique and elegant everyday design, featuring bands of Bamiyan turquoise in a gold-plated silver setting.

The Four Forests stud earrings, Bamiyan turquoise and silver, are handcrafted in Afghanistan. The jade coloured stone used in this design is known to locals as Bamiyan Turquoise. This mineral (scientific name: Chrysocolla) is mined close to the location of the famous Buddhas of Bamiyan, which were destroyed by the Taliban in 2001. Bamiyan sits in a stunning lush green valley surrounded by snow capped peaks.

This piece is produced by master artisans in Afghanistan. Since the Taliban took over in August 2021, we have removed all identifying references of ISHKAR's partners for security reasons. Some of their partners were able to leave Afghanistan. For those who remain, their craft is critical to sustain their livelihoods at a time when the country is in financial collapse and in the grip of a humanitarian disaster, making every purchase of an Afghan-made piece more important now than ever before.
On top of the amount ISHKAR pay the artisans, a further 10% of the value of this product goes towards the Turquoise Mountain Foundation. Turquoise Mountain supports Afghan artisans by providing them with three years of technical training, as well as a full range of business support following graduation.
