The vintage Navy Surplus Pea Coat is a slow fashion classic and this is a six button style classic with a strong shoulder line in cool, deep navy blue coloured classic felted melton wool style fabric.

There's some discussion over where the name 'Pea Coat' came from. Some say it's from the Dutch word pijjekker or pijjakker which refers to a coat made from a coarse blue fabric. Another theory is that the Pea stands for the initial letter of the 'pilot cloth', a stout, hardy fabric historically used to make warm coats for seafaring men.

This still boasts the classic anchor motif buttons and has the sailor's name stencilled inside, however there are signs of age with a few areas of moth damage in the pile (mostly on the back) as well as some crush marks in the cloth from storage- which we have reflected in the price.
