Casa Cubista's Mourisco tile is a beautiful distillation of Portuguese history, craft and tradition in a ceramic square. This neutral coloured tile is a lovely addition to your kitchen or table as a trivet, pot or bottle stand. There's also a notch in the back for you to be able to hang it on your wall.
The surface of these handmade tiles is impressed with a linear design that's centred around a star shape. It’s finished with a low sheen glaze that subtly highlights the pattern. The Mourisco tile is a lovely piece of design that brings a touch of Portugal's heritage to your home in a chic, minimalist way.

The back of the tile is unglazed. If using as a trivet, please take care with delicate surfaces. Tiles are durable and can withstand high heat. Dishwasher safe.

Wheel-thrown and hand-decorated in Portugal. Made from local terracotta clay.
Prior to first use, all pieces should be washed by hand in hot soapy water, well rinsed and allowed to air dry. To maintain the integrity of the pieces (i.e., colour, glaze), dishwasher use is not recommended. The base of jugs, mugs and vases may initially sweat. This is normal, and will decrease over time. Please protect delicate surfaces that may be affected by watermarks. If using a vase or jug to hold flowers, please change the water daily.Some marks in the glaze are natural and expected, as is some crazing. This will not affect the use or durability of the pieces.

The creation of clay as a material and then the firing stage of ceramics are not inherently highly sustainable, but we take steps to ensure the pottery that we offer is made in a sustainably conscientious manner.
These pieces are made from local terracotta clay so there's minimal carbon footprint from material transportation.

All of the P&B ceramics are made in small production runs. As one run sells out there is another in production. This may result in a short wait for yours to be delivered. We'll let you know an ETA if this is the case.
