Aarven's hand-carved wild olive wood spoon combines functional design with artisanal craftsmanship. Expertly carved by master craftspeople in Nairobi, the elongated handle provides optimal reach into deep jars and containers. These wild olive wood products are hand carved in a Nairobi workshop run by Zephania. His workshops are situated in the shadow of the Ngong Hills (made famous in Karen Blixen’s novel ‘Out of Africa’).
The wood is all sustainably sourced from Zephania’s own plantations in his hometown, Kissi, where he continually re-plants trees.
Aarven regularly visit Zephania and collaborate on the design of many of the products.

Care
Care
We recommend hand washing your wooden utensils with a mild detergent and warm water. Avoid boiling water and dishwashers as high temperatures may cause the wood to expand and split. Always towel dry after washing to prevent moisture cracks.
Treat them once a month with a food safe mineral oil (we like to use olive oil). Simply rub in a small amount with a soft cloth to condition the wood and restore its warm, polished look.
