The hand carved olive wood heart-shaped dish from Aarven is small but perfectly formed. Carved by master craftspeople in Nairobi, each one is made with great care and skill. The wild olive wood's natural grain patterns and warm hues ensure each piece has its own unique character.
Practical and beautiful, it serves equally well holding kitchen essentials like salt and spices or displaying bedside keepsakes and jewellery. Pair it with the tiny olive wood spoons to create a useful kitchen or dining table set.

These wild olive wood products are hand carved in a Nairobi workshop run by Zephania. His workshops are situated in the shadow of the Ngong Hills (made famous in Karen Blixen’s novel ‘Out of Africa’).
The wood is all sustainably sourced from Zephania’s own plantations in his hometown, Kissi, where he continually re-plants trees.
Aarven regularly visit Zephania and collaborate on the design of many of the products.

Care
Care
We recommend hand washing your wooden utensils with a mild detergent and warm water. Avoid boiling water and dishwashers as high temperatures may cause the wood to expand and split. Always towel dry after washing to prevent moisture cracks.
Treat them once a month with a food safe mineral oil (we like to use olive oil). Simply rub in a small amount with a soft cloth to condition the wood and restore its warm, polished look.
